What is the difference between a Preserve and a Marmalade?
Preserves are pieces of fruit cooked in sugar and water and then stored in jars using pectin. Marmalades are a preserve made with the rind of the fruit.
Are Mediterranean Organic™ Preserves and Marmalades made from Fruit Juice Concentrate?
No. Our preserves and marmalades are always made from whole fruit pieces.
Why is there hardening on the top of my jar of preserves?
This is a natural crystallization of the sugars and is not harmful. Various measures are taken to control crystallization however, it may still occur on occasion.
Why are there pits in my Black Cherry Preserves?
Because our Black Cherry Preserves are made with real fruit and not fruit juice concentrate, fruit puree or lyophilized fruit, it is possible that a pit can remain in a batch.
